Jon & Daenerys; Match Made in Heaven or Ick Factor Overload?

Game of Thrones fans are some of the most patient people in the world.  Yes, there are the fans that love plot leaks, spoilers, and leaked episodes.  But, if you stop and think about it, they have waited longer than most to finish a story that hasn't even been written yet.  The book readers have it the toughest, coming in on 24-25 years, just to find out who Jon Snow's parents are.  People want to know what's the deal with Dany's visions?  Does this lemon tree have significance?  Where in the heck is it, etc.  There are many more examples, but Jon's parentage has by far been the most important. With Jon and Dany meeting on episode 3 of this season........ finally, it seemed to a lot of fans that Dany may have the hots for her nephew, Jon.

Will it happen?  Isn't it gross?  Will they do anything before Jon finds out who he is?  This is all still speculation by many.

I watched the show before I read the 1st book. When I was watching season 3, I had no idea what speculation there was about Jon's parentage.  So I was actually hopeful we would find out that they are brother and sister, and maybe even twins, if we lived in a perfect world.  I even tried to argue my point with a few of the book readers.  When they told me of their theory of Lyanna being Jon's mother and why, I tossed my theory out the window.  Their thing made more sense, I will admit.  We found out that this is true in episode 10 last season, and it was quite a moment:

Now that Jon and Dany have met, it does seem that sparks were flying.  The scenes were even done in a lighter mood, with a few jabs of comedy here and there.  I felt like Jon was impressed by her and she was not what he expected.  Maybe the same for her a little bit as well, but she was way more curious about him, than him her.  Now granted, they did not show Jon in a scene with Davos asking about Dany, or anyone else for that matter.  They did show Dany asking about Jon several times, to Tyrion, to Melisandre, and maybe even Varys a little, in different episodes.  Are they grooming us to accept them as a coupling, by making them have a better than expected meeting?  Yes, she is holding him on Dragonstone, but she is not being at all mean to him, and if anything, like I said before, she is curious about him.

While I am not a fan of putting them together, I can see why the writers would.  We have the whole Fire and Ice combo, mixed with the Prince or Princess that was promised, and it makes us sort of, kind of okay with the thought that they are related.  After all, as all of my book reader friends like to point out, Targaryens were known for it, and Cersei even mentioned this when Ned confronted her about Jamie.

Forgive me if I am wrong about them coupling, because they may very well not get together at all, and just end up friendly allies.  If they do, however, wouldn't it be a little hypocritical at this stage to make us buy into it, after they have made Jamie and Cersei's pairing icky, and a nasty secret?  I know that the main reason the whole Jamie and Cersei thing is such a big deal is because of the whole illegitimate children sitting on the throne thing.... but, it has also been made fun of by characters on the show, right to Jamie's face, IE Euron.  Cersei confessed it to Tywin and he showed shame in her.  See what I am saying?  So why should it be okay that Jon and Dany make a cute couple?  Is this what George RR Martin meant by the ending will be "bittersweet"?  I think it has to be bigger than that.

I had to be fair and play the devil's advocate.  So I thought maybe we should accept the pairing, should it happen, because they aren't yet aware of their relation?  Now we may be on to something.  The only problem with this is, I have a huge fear that Jon will never get to discover his parentage if it does happen, and maybe that is what George RR meant by "bittersweet".  I hope that is not what is going to happen.  I am preparing myself for a worse case scenario and that is my number two, right after Jon dying... again. I guess now I have to prepare myself for a combo of the two scenarios as well.  Jon and Dany hook up and he never finds out, or he does and dies in the end?  What if they do hook up, he doesn't find out, and he dies?????  They couldn't possibly be that cruel, could they??  Especially after the Red Wedding, Shireen Baratheon, and Hodor.  If they do that, I swear, I will cancel my HBO subscription!

What if he they hook up, then he finds out, and then dies anyway?  See?  I don't know what they are going to do and I try to stay away from supposed "leaks".  I cannot help but hear them when I am researching content for articles, or discussing the show with my friends.  So I have heard all of the above.

I hope they give us as happy an ending as possible, especially for the book readers, who have waited all this time to see how it all goes down.  I know we are going to lose some more of our favorites, and I can accept that as long as it isn't Dany, Jon, Sam, Bran, Arya, and Tyrion.  I will give up Sansa as well if they allow Varys escape.  I know a Stark for a Spider would not be considered a very good trade in the NFL or MLB, but I like Varys and I do not care for Sansa.

What do you think?  Are you okay with a Jon and Daenerys pairing?  Do you think we will lose one of them in the end?  Let me know your thoughts.  Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 2 Review & Breakdown

With two of seven episodes under our belt we are full steam ahead in season 7.  This episode was way better than last week's drab catch up.  At least we didn't have to watch Sam clean chamber pots for 5 minutes.  Here is the episode breakdown:     The second episode of Game of Thrones Season 7, titled "Stormborn", starts out with just that.  A huge storm at Dragonstone with Daenerys looking out from the Chamber of the Painted Table(the big map room).     Tyrion starts off by reminding her that she was born during a storm just like this, which we all know due to her title of Daenerys Stormborn.  Varys chimes in and recalls his memory of the evening with dogs howling through the night.  She doesn't seem very amused and tells them that she wishes she could remember it, and that it does not feel like a homecoming.  Tyrion reassures her by advising they wouldn't stay at Dragonstone for very long and she is please...

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 7 "The Dragon and the Wolf" Breakdown & Review

The GoT season 7 finale was a pretty epic one.  More happened in this episode than any other, in my opinion.  It certainly helped that the episode was about an hour and fifteen minutes long.  After last week's atrocious episode, I think they owed us some fan service, and to answer some questions that the book readers have been waiting about 25 years for, the show watchers a mere 7.  They delivered that and more.  Like most of the show's finales, this one left most of us on the edge of our seat, just to realize that we will now have to wait to 2019 to see how these last six episodes of the series will wrap up this wonderful tale of Ice and Fire.  Let's break this sucker down, it was a doozy.     The Unsullied are standing at Kings Landing, Grey Worm at the lead.  Jaime is looking overhead and Bronn comes to join him after giving a few more orders to men putting oil in barrels.  Bronn looks down at the army and says, "Men...

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 "The Spoils of War" Breakdown & Review

The fourth episode of season 7 has left me pretty much speechless.  I truly could not find words to describe it.  This one left episode 2 and the Euron battle look like a Care Bears movie.  I have included as many pictures as I can, but pics do not do it justice.  It is a must see.  I understand that the episode was leaked online due to a hacker situation that HBO suffered this week, which anyone that watched it early did a major disservice.  I stayed away from the internet on purpose to avoid having it spoiled.  I like watching it when everyone else does.  So, if my review is posted later than most, at least you know it was done honestly.  The people who posted their review 5 minutes after the show aired.....  screw you, and I hope you trust a fart and shit your pants instead in front of a coworker.     The episode begins with Jamie, Bron, and the Lannister armies on the move.  Jamie opens up the gold cart...
